Hospitality Industry Insurance (HII) Referral Program Policy

Effective Date: 1 December 2024

1. Purpose

The HII Referral Program rewards individuals for referring new clients to HII. By participating, referrers help grow HII’s customer base while earning rewards for valid referrals.

2. Eligibility

2.1 Referrers:

  • All individuals are eligible to participate as long as you reside in Australia.
  • The only exception to this is HII employees who work in sales and marketing roles and their families.
  • Referrers must agree to HII’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

2.2 Referred Businesses:

  • Must operate within the hospitality industry.
  • Must be located in New South Wales (NSW), Australia.
  • Must not already be clients of HII or engaged with another insurance broker.
  • Must take out a workers’ compensation insurance policy with HII and have a minimum annual premium of $1,000.
  • The policyholder (referred business) must have paid in full for the referrer to qualify for the referral reward. If the referred business has not paid in full any unpaid amount will be paid the following year as long as they have then paid.

3. Terms of the Referral Program

3.1 Reward Amount:

  • Referrers will earn 2% of the referred business’s net earned premium (NEP) (premium paid minus levies and GST).
  • Rewards are capped at 2% of $30,000 in NEP per annum per policy.
  • Rewards will be paid annually for up to 3 years, provided the policy remains active and paid in full each year.

3.2 Policy Requirement:

The referred business must take out a workers’ compensation insurance policy through HII and pay in full to qualify for the referral reward.

3.3 Broker Precedence:

If an insurance broker provides HII with a letter of appointment for the referred business, no referral reward will be paid.

3.4 Payment Method:

  • Rewards are generally paid annually via debit gift card or bank transfer, as chosen by HII.
  • If the annual reward amount is less than $100, payment will be held and paid as a lump sum in the third year instead of annually.
  • HII will make payments once annually post the end of the financial year.
  • HII may require reasonable additional information from the referrer to process and issue the payment.

3.5 No Limit on Referrals:

There is no limit to the number of businesses a referrer can refer.

4. Referral Process

  • Referrers must use the custom referral URL provided to them after registration to refer eligible businesses.
  • Policyholders:

    • Policyholders will be automatically provided a custom referral URL, which can be used to refer businesses. Using this URL will apply the reward as a premium discount on their next year’s policy.
    • Policyholders may also register on hospitalityindustryinsurance.au to generate a manually created referral URL. Using this manually created URL will allow policyholders to receive rewards via debit gift card or bank transfer.

  • A referral is valid only when the referred business uses the provided referral URL to purchase their policy.

5. Limitations

  • Referrers cannot refer their own business or any business in which they have an ownership stake.
  • Rewards will not be paid for clients who cancel their policy before full payment is made.
  • Referrals resulting from fraudulent or misleading activities will be disqualified, and participants may be removed from the program.

6. Program Modifications

  • HII reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Referral Program at any time without prior notice.
  • Changes will not affect valid referrals made prior to the modification date.

7. Privacy

By participating in the program, referrers agree to HII’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for its website.

8. Disputes

  • Any disputes regarding the program will be resolved at the sole discretion of HII.
  • All decisions made by HII regarding eligibility, rewards, and policy validity are final and binding.

By participating in the HII Referral Program, you acknowledge and agree to abide by this policy.
